DECISION DAY IN CEGEP AAA

It will be a battle to the finish in the CEGEP AAA men’s league on Friday as eight of nine teams are in action with some playoff seeding still undecided.

The most interesting battle is for the 6th and final playoff position as Edouard-Montpetit tries to hold off a hard-charging John Abbott team.
If Edouard (6-9) loses to Montmorency on road and Abbott (6-9) beats Ste-Foy (11-4) at home, Abbott would finish one game ahead and clinch 6th.
If both teams win or if both teams lose, they would be tied with identical records. But Edouard would still get in because they hold the tiebreaker over Abbott, having swept the season series.

  Battle for the bye
The Champlain St. Lambert Cavaliers has clinched the #1 spot, meaning that they get a bye into the weekend's semi-final. But Momo (12-3) and Sainte-Foy (11-4) are in a tough fight for the #2 seed and a bye into the second round.
Momo will get that bye as long as it beats Edouard at home. The Nomades beat Edouard by 16 on the road earlier this season.
Things get more interesting if Momo loses and Ste-Foy beats John Abbott.
Ste-Foy would win the tiebreaker on point differential and get the bye while Momo would have to play the #6 seed in the opening round of the playoffs.

  #5 clinched
Dawson (7-8) is guaranteed to be at 5 seed. The Blues hold a one-game lead over Edouard and in the event of a tie, Dawson beats Edouard on point differential even though the two teams split the season series.

 4-5 is set
The 4-5 matchup is set. Vanier (8-7) has a one-game lead on Dawson and even if the two squads end up tied, Vanier still clinches the #4 spot because they swept the season series with Dawson.
