Momo is in the same situation St. Lambert was in last season -- Quebec's best team on paper, strong at every position but facing great expectations.

With as many as five scholarship players on the roster, the Nomades are in a position to blow teams out on many nights. Head Coach Guy Pariseau has his best chance for a provincial championship since J.P. Morin patrolled the lane two years ago.

Guards

In a word, stacked. Adidas All-Canadian Jean-Francois Beaulieu is one of the best guards in Canada. His hustle, intensity and talent are eye-opening.

Shooting guard Etienne Labrecque is one of the tallest guards in the country at 6-5, and has the perimeter stroke and handles to match. He finally played up to his potential this summer for Sun Youth's AAU squad. These two future stars will more than make up for the loss of gunner Francois Yelle.

Muscular 5-10 sparkplug Ibrahim Bamba will get a major challenge from Pagé-Concordia star Steve Alexandre, a Rookie-of-the-Year candidate.

Forwards

Yvan Bahblesson and Yann Jolicoeur were strong and skilled, but their departure clears space for rising big man Ali Kanaan.

He defended and rebounded with passion for Sun Youth last summer, but needs to find his niche on offence.

Adidas All-Canadian Sebastien Salois is one of the province's best shooters. He lit it up for Sun Youth in June and July, and could be the team's second All-Canadian candidate if he keeps up his stellar play.

Coach Pariseau says:

"1996 was the last provincial championship for us, so we're all going to focus on that. We need one this year."

"The players know that we're good. I think it's going to help us to just focus on team spirit and things like that -- be happy and accept our roles."

J-F Beaulieu and Sebastien Salois are

Montmorency's feature players.
